Police investigate shooting, domestic fight

Many families in Florida experience domestic problems. These disputes may escalate and can lead to domestic violence. Even threats of domestic violence can result in serious repercussions for an individual accused of making them. Cases of domestic violence are often difficult for all those involved. Readers may find a recent domestic dispute in Florida to be of interest.

On Jan. 30, police investigated a domestic disturbance call from a woman who claimed that her 32-year-old husband was intoxicated. She apparently stated that he was in possession of a firearm and that he was in the vicinity of several more guns.

After walking her dogs, the woman had returned home, and an altercation with her husband reportedly ensued. As the argument intensified, the woman alleged that her husband retrieved a gun from his room and proceeded to confront the woman and her mother. The woman stated in a call to 911 that she fled her home with her mother. She apparently heard her husband fire the gun as she drove away.

Inside the man's house, police found the man on the ground seemingly inebriated. Subsequently, the police took the man into custody with no further incident. At the Flagler County Detention Facility, the cops charged the man with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault domestic violence, possession or use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and shooting or throwing a deadly missile.

When a person is faced with charges related to spousal abuse, that person may stand to lose a considerable amount of money and could be forced to serve time in prison. Therefore, it is imperative that a person in such a situation learn as much as possible about his rights and contact an attorney.
